Integrated Care for Substance Use, Mental Health, and Co-Occurring Disorders
Bridge of Hope Outpatient Treatment Center in Portland, Oregon offers comprehensive outpatient and intensive outpatient behavioral health programs for adults navigating substance use disorders, mental health challenges, or co-occurring conditions.
Founded by Berhanu Bedassa, a seasoned Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Bridge of Hope was created from the belief that a better way is possible – one where sustainable transformation emerges at the intersection of clinical excellence and compassion. Our trauma-informed approach integrates evidence-based therapies with holistic practices designed to heal both mind and body.
Guided by a team of deeply experienced professionals, we provide individualized, person-centered care that meets each client where they are. At Bridge of Hope, we strive to be a true bridge toward wellness by helping individuals move from the weight of addiction and emotional distress toward stability, resilience, and lasting recovery.
Meet Our Founder
Berhanu Bedassa, PMHNP
Berhanu Bedassa, PMHNP, is a Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions. His clinical background includes the assessment and management of anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and substance use disorders, including opioid and alcohol dependence.
He began his education at Los Angeles Trade–Technical College before earning his associate degree in nursing from Glendale Community College. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Phoenix Gardena Campus and received his psychiatric nurse practitioner training from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles.
Berhanu provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, psychotherapy, and medication management tailored to each individual’s clinical needs. He places strong emphasis on patient education, ensuring individuals understand their diagnoses, treatment options, and how therapeutic interventions support long-term stability and improved quality of life.

Smaller Client to Staff Ratio: Bridge of Hope’s counselors work closely with Certified Recovery Mentors, medical providers, and administrative staff to ensure high quality wrap-around care.
Experienced Leadership: Our Program Director and Clinical Lead are both dually-credentialed and each has 14 years of hands-on experience in the behavioral health field.
Evidence-Based and Holistic Therapies: Our curriculum is designed to treat the mind and the body together. Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques become even more effective when combined with physical activity and creative expression.
